Microseismic for Field Development in the Permian: From Geophysics to Engineering

Understanding how to increase recovery and reserves is key in stacked plays such as the Permian. In this talk we show results from a three-well pad in the Midland Basin using microseismic data to forecast production and pressure depletion to define a field development plan for the asset of our client.

Why Treatment Order Matters: Using Geophysics to Understand Completion Efficiency

In this case study we show the impact of well treatment sequence on the overall efficiency of multi-well completions. Microseismic data are used to demonstrate how induced reservoir stress/pressure changes can be used to improve completion efficiency by optimizing well treatment sequence.

Beyond Conventional Velocity Estimation – Transmission Interferometric Extended Source Velocity Analysis

Following the recent developments in seismic velocity inverse theory, the transmission interferometric extended source velocity analysis is developed to estimate seismic velocity fields of compressional and/or shear components. The method is ideal for a velocity calibration where only the actual location of the source is known, such as a perforation shots during hydraulic fracturing. In this talk, we will explain how this full waveform method, TIESVA, works, suggesting superiority over conventional picking approaches.

Through a case study we will highlight the importance of monitoring every frac as to understand interactions of the stimulation with known and unknown natural features. Another point of interest is to understand the efficiency of diverters but such analysis calls for a superior technology. MSI can answer these questions through full waveform imaging of downhole data.
